NEW B.A.R.F. PRODUCTS
Why does Dr B.s BARF Patties now come in individually sealed portions?
There are a number of reasons for this with the most notable change is to
keep the portions separated!
There were numerous complaints about the old style patties sticking together and being dangerous to separate (most people commented that they would use a knife to try and separate!)
Unfortunately whilst every effort was made from everyone (delivery drivers, store owners and end users ) to keep the old style bags containing patties at a temperature that would ensure they would not defrost and stick together it was in some cases simply not possible (especially in the warmer months).
With the individually packed portions this will be an issue of the past.
No longer will you have to rush home after buying BARF and pop it straight in your freezer - the new style will give you the flexibility of being able to tie in other errands in to your schedule.
The other reason for the change is to hold the product whilst it is being formed and do away with many wasteful stages of the previous production process.
There were many stages of the production processed, that were unseen to the consumer, where there was waste produced - in plastic, metal (which was not recyclable) and energy.
The new packaging has eliminated the need for these stages and has in fact reduced the overall used of plastic and cardboard, and eliminated the need to use some of the metal products all together and is a more energy efficient process.
These new trays will also be able to protect the ingredients from oxidation (exposure to air which can impact on bacterial growth) and freezer burn.
Are the portions still the same weight and do I need to change the number of patties I feed per day?
Yes the patties are still the same weight - so NOTHING NEEDS TO CHANGE. Each portion weighs (approx) 227 grams.
Previously there were great variances in the weights of the patties which unfortunately could not be controlled during the manufacturing process and some owners felt that their animals were sometime being overfed / underfed - as a pet owner you can now rest easy and be assured that your companion animal is getting all that they need!
What is the best way to remove the new Patty from the tray?
There have been a few different ideas on this - but after much research many believe the best way is to:
1. Cut the number of desired portions from the tray
2. Leave for 3- 5 minutes in the sink/on the bench to ensure easy removal (in summer this many be sooner)
3. Using the easy peel or a pair of scissors remove the top film.
4. Pop the patty out of the bottom tray and place in a container/plate and cover
5. Place in refrigerator until feeding.
Also some people have noted that they will place the portion unopened in the refrigerator to defrost and scoop out the contents with a spoon. There is no right or wrong way to do this - it is what works best for you.
Have the ingredients in the BARF Patties changed?
The answer is a resounding NO!
The Ingredients are still sourced from the same human consumption facilities (with the exception of the Kangaroo) and the formulation remains the same. We now have the added benefit of being able to protect these crucial ingredients from oxidation (exposure to air which can impact on bacterial growth) and freezer burn.
Why does the BARF Patties come in an expensive looking box?
The new outer packaging of Dr B.s BARF has been designed to educate many more people about the benefits of feeding Dr B.s BARF Diet to their companion animal.
It contains much more information than the old style bag and can be used as a promotional tools by stores. It is 100% recyclable and in most cases will pack more neatly into your freezers and eliminate wasted space.
If you are feeding your dog. Possibly the worlds perfect pet food, then why should it not look like the worlds, most perfect  pet food too!
Why has there been a price increase on Dr B.s Aussie RAW BARF?
Because we as consumers of products and services face the same increases as do our customers  (ie. We are all in the same boat) After a cost analysis of BARF throughout Qld it is still one of the most affordable, cost effective, time effective way to feed your dog a wholly RAW BARF product.
It is possible to feed your companion animals for around $1.60 - $2.50 per day.
